On Thursday, the Rams signed a veteran quarterback.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Los Angeles Rams have signed veteran quarterback Brett Rypien to serve as Matthew Stafford's backup.

The Rams made the decision after they put rookie backup quarterback Stetson Bennett on the non-football injury list yesterday.

In 2019, Rypien was a free agent who the Denver Broncos signed to their team.

The former Boise State star has thrown for 778 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his three NFL games, with a 2-1 record.

Bennett was declared non-football-involved on Wednesday, making Stafford the lone quarterback on the Rams' 53-man roster.

For this weekend's Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers, Rypien will be the team's primary backup.

In Week 1 of the 2023 season, the Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks.

The former Boise State star has thrown for 778 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his three NFL games, with a 2-1 record.
