Breaking down the first major shootout in John Wick spinoff program The Continental
Albert Hughes and action director Larnell Stovall show us how the series' first massacre scene was made.
How did Ian McShane's Winston Scott and Lance Reddick's Charon govern New York's assassin-friendly Continental hotel in John Wick?
The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a three-part limited series prequel on Peacock Sept. 22, will answer that.
The 1970s show stars Colin Woodell (The Purge) as young Winston and Ayomide Adegun (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as a wet-behind-the-ears Charon.
"We go back and we establish who Winston is at the time and who Charon, his concierge,
is before they formed a partnership," explains two-episode director Albert Hughes (Menace II Society, The Book of Eli).
There's a large group of interesting folks who aid. Or not."Winston's brother Frankie, played by Ben Robson (Vikings),
starts the story by robbing the Continental of a package Hughes won't reveal. "As Hitchcock used to say, it's a MacGuffin!" says the director.
